Dive amongst sea anemones and Japanese airplane fuselages |
During World War II, Campaigns against the
Japanese deposited a couple hundred thousand
tonnes of steel on the bottom of True Lagoon in
Micronesia. Today, on resplendent coral growth,
old Zero airplane fuselages and wing sections can
still be found - providing scuba divers with one of
the worlds best wreck sites. The Fujisawa Mart's
hold still contains wartime ammunition, Dai Nippon
beer bottles, stern guns and well-preserved
telegraphs. Magnificent air compressors, a
machine shop and a telephone booth can be
clearly seen in the engine room of this World War II
craft amidst a sea of anemones.
